Trump Business Sought to Hire Nearly 200 Employees on Work Permits in 2025

The former president’s family business accelerated its recruitment of foreign workers on temporary visas this period, while his government was placing obstacles for other companies attempting to do the identical, an analysis released Thursday claimed.

Based on information from the federal labor department, the Trump Organization sought to bring in at least nearly 200 overseas employees in 2025 for temporary positions at the former president’s Florida property, golf facilities and his winery in Virginia.

The quantity of requests for temporary work visas for staff including waitstaff, clerks, housekeepers, culinary employees and farm workers was the record submitted by the company, and up from 121 in the previous term, when his presidency concluded.

It was also the fifth time in 10 years that Trump had sought to bring in more than 100 overseas workers for temporary positions at Mar-a-Lago, based on available data.

The revelation coincides with a crackdown on legal immigration by his government that has involved the introduction of a $100,000 fee on H1-B visas; extra scrutiny of the activities of the millions of people who already hold US visas; and tighter regulations for international scholars and reporters.

In total, the business aimed to employ 566 overseas workers over the period Trump has been in the White House, from his first term and during 2025.

Significantly, the former president was criticized by some in the Republican party this period for remarks justifying the need for foreign workers when a company was unable to find people with “specific talents” to fill particular roles.

“You can’t just say a nation is entering, going to invest $10bn to build a plant, and going to take people off an unemployment line who haven’t worked in years, and they’re going to start producing their missiles. It isn’t feasible that well,” he stated to a host after it was implied that overseas employees undercut the pay of American employees.

The White House refused a request for response, and the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to an inquiry.
