The Opening Game Pass Games of 2026 Demonstrate Xbox Isn't Giving Up Yet.
Everywhere you go, commentators persist in tolling the death bells for the green team. Microsoft's console just got outsold by a platform few have heard of. Platform-specific outlets began covering about PlayStation for the first time. 2025 was an era of significant turmoil for the tech giant's gaming arm. But if we're going solely off what's coming to Game Pass in 2026, it is apparent that Xbox continues to plan to engage players with strong games on its premier subscription.
The Immediate Additions
The two games you can play right now at this moment, Brews & Bastards and Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition, aren't the showstoppers. Instead, the excitement lies in what's arriving to Game Pass soon that's worth getting excited about.
Significant Forthcoming Releases
Come mid-January, the subscription service will add the often-overlooked Star Wars Outlaws, a sprawling adventure that breaks up the standard Ubisoft formula with an intergalactic heist adventure. A further major acquisition is Resident Evil Village featuring the towering Lady Dimitrescu, previously described as "the perfect cocktail of horror and action."
Compelling Indie Titles
However, the more modest titles arriving shortly on the service are quite compelling. Lost In Random: The Eternal Die, an unjustly ignored roguelite offering thrilling gameplay, arrives January 7th — and it merits a playthrough even if you missed out on the first Lost in Random game.
This UK-developed survival title from last year might get its hooks in you remarkably quickly.
Atomfall, a game blending infiltration and resource management by the makers of Sniper Elite, is another one to watch. Those with the top-tier subscription also have Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition to get excited about.
A Robust Selection of Games
Ultimately, these titles aren't industry-shaking releases to Game Pass, nor are they tentpole Microsoft studios games that are the sole reason for the service in the first place. Yet, this selection are very dependable. There's a good mixture of old games you might have missed and new-ish games that failed to receive the spotlight they warranted upon launch — rendering them perfect candidates to experience a revival on Game Pass.
You might need to brace yourself to say goodbye to The Grinch Christmas Adventures, however.
