Jennifer Lawrence has declared that she finds it inappropriate fitting to speak out countering the Trump administration, concerned it could worsen divisive discussions and deepen rifts within the country.

‘I Question the Usefulness’, Explains Lawrence

Speaking with media, Lawrence reflected, “During the first Trump administration, I believed I was moving hastily without clear direction. But experience has shown, election after election, celebrities do not make a difference in any way on voter decisions.”

The actor went on, “So then what am I doing? I’m just sharing my opinion on a matter that’s going to worsen tensions tearing the nation apart.”

Shifting Views

Lawrence has spoken candidly about supporting right and leftwing presidential nominees over the years. Raised by Republican parents in her home state, she voted for the Republican nominee in the 2008 election then moving to the left-leaning politics and explaining she recognized during the Obama era that voting Republican was undermining her own rights as a woman.

Earlier Remarks

In 2015, she stated that Donald Trump’s election could represent “a catastrophic event” and backed the Democratic candidate in the 2020 presidential race. In the latest campaign, she lent her support to Kamala Harris, “because I think she’s an amazing candidate and I am confident that she will take all necessary steps to defend reproductive rights.”

The star was aligned with many in the entertainment industry in her opposition to the former president as a returning figure, but the limited influence stars have over the public choices was highlighted by the outcome.

“This upcoming term seems distinct,” said she regarding his leadership. “Because he said what he was going to do. We knew what he did for the previous administration. He was explicit. And voters made that decision.”

Lawrence is currently promoting Die, My Love, director Lynne Ramsay’s project in which she plays a new mother who faces challenges with her psychological well-being in a remote area. “I felt anxiety regarding my baby,” she said, “imagining every potential danger, and then doubting everything that I was attempting. I was already in therapy, but I got on a medication called that medicine and I took it for a short period and it was effective.”

The actor also discussed regarding the empowering aspect of completing nude scenes in the film while she was in pregnancy and limited physically.

“It’s refreshing,” she remarked, of being forced to abandon insecurities. “Honestly, I do have moments where I’m like, What technically are the differences between myself and a sex worker? But it doesn’t trouble me deeply.”
