Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it was understandable for questions to be raised about his future following a further convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in twelve matches, marking the team's worst streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a tough night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I have got plenty of support from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to turn it around and secure a win obviously but when you're in a managerial role and not doing well then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my role. It is not the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to expand on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard discussions I perceive the trust. However I've not talked to them since this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Response

Slot highlighted familiar shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their European loss, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I’m past getting mad internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a spell such as this with performances like these.”

Jones stated, “However we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is removed, we’re always going to battle.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“But right now, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
