Paceman Atkinson Adds to the English team's Injury Worries.
'Serious blow' for the English camp as Atkinson goes off due to a hamstring issue.
Gus Atkinson added to the injury concerns plaguing England upon exiting the ground on the second morning in the Melbourne Test in the Ashes series.
The pace bowler felt a problem in his left leg after the final ball that he bowled during the morning session.
The touring camp indicated Atkinson had experienced "tightness" and was to take time on the sidelines in order to be assessed "over the next few hours".
The final Test of the series in Sydney gets underway on Sunday, 4 January.
The English side has previously lost strike bowlers Mark Wood with a knee problem and Jofra Archer because of a side injury on the current trip.
Matthew Fisher was brought into the squad as cover for Wood.
The seamer had a tough time early in the series, managing only a handful of scalps.
He was left out for the Adelaide match, only to be brought back for the Boxing Day match in the playing XI.
The county bowler performed better in the fourth Test, claiming a couple of wickets in Australia's first innings, and scoring 28 runs with the bat among just a trio of English batsmen who passed ten runs.
Post a single over at the end of day one, he came back on Saturday morning and dismissed the nightwatchman taken by the wicketkeeper.
Unfortunately, on the final ball of that over, he sent down a slower ball to Travis Head and immediately felt his left hamstring.
Gus Atkinson returned to the side for the fourth Ashes Test after being left out the Adelaide game.
