Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Instagram

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice by name, shared a set of images on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver missed the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
