Iran Reports Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in response for a significant and continuing attack against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any impact is uncertain and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck sites linked to the the regime, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," it added.
It said debris fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
