Barcelona to Host First Game at Upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday
Barcelona have announced they will play at the partially upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday. They will welcome Athletic Bilbao in domestic competition 30 months since relocating so building work could begin.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity but 45,401 spectators are permitted inside under the licence granted. When completed, the stadium’s capacity will reach over 104,000 attendees, up from the previous 99,000. Officials confirmed finished work included a renovated tunnel for players along with upgraded changing facilities.
Recent Activities
Barça organized a public practice at the Camp Nou earlier this month. The club said they are seeking authorization from Uefa for their upcoming Champions League fixture versus the German side next month at the stadium. They have been hosting matches at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
